Pick 'n Pay

Pick 'n Pay appointed Didaxis/eDegree as the provider for a contract funded by the W&R SETA to provide ABET training in two learning areas to employees in Gauteng. In consequence, in 2005 the contract was completed with the W&R SETA. However, due to quality delivery and exceptional service, Pick n Pay decided to enter into an agreement with Didaxis outside of the SETA banner. This agreement includes a national rollout to the Northern Region [Limpopo, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga], Gauteng Hypermarkets, and Gauteng Stores; Kwa-Zulu Natal and Western Cape.

ESKOM - National Rollout

Didaxis was contracted by the South African Electricity Supply Commission to develop a pre-assessment tool for one of its training courses. This tool was developed to determine whether a candidate had the necessary prerequisites to attend the national pricing training course and, if not, to establish bridging requirements which would prepare the candidate for successful attendance of said training course.

This contract was, in effect, a pilot course aimed at determining:

  • The suitability of the training course materials
  • The effectiveness of the pre-assessment tool

As a result of the accuracy of the assessment tool (100%), ESKOM has decided to engage the services of eDegree in the national rollout. This rollout commenced after the completion of a second pilot course conducted to further ascertain the effectiveness of the training course materials. The national rollout comprises pre-assessing candidates nation-wide, as well as the development and facilitation of bridging courses for the preparation of national pricing course candidates.

Gauteng Department of Education

Didaxis was selected to develop a  conceptual framework for the establishment of an ABET Agency within the Department of Education in Gauteng within the context of public sector and the Adult Basic Education and Training environment. Furthermore, we developed innovative management information tools to assist in strategic human resource forecasting and financial management. The objective was to provide the Agency with hands-on tools to effectively manage adult basic education.

An administrative database was also developed to enable the Agency to manage:

  • The facilitator database
  • Tracking and administration of learners and facilitators
  • Programme and facility management
